Dee Caffari bursary benefits Gosport youngsters
Following the Volvo Ocean race of 2015, Dee Caffari, who sailed on Team SCA, nominated St Mary’s Junior Sailing Club to receive a Team SCA Bursary. The purpose of the bursary is to extend the sailing horizons of children in the club who sail on Stoke Lake in Alverstoke. As a result, ten of the club members aged 11 to 13 have enjoyed evening sails on the Little Brigs which are based at Haslar Marina.
The Little Brig Sailing Trust operates the world’s smallest tall ships to provide the complete tall ship sailing experience to young people aged 10 years upwards. Their two vessels, TS Bob Allen and TS Caroline Allen, are traditionally rigged with two masts, ten sails, and one hundred ropes (more than enough to keep young people occupied), are berthed at Haslar Marina.
