With Push the Boat Out just around the corner, Lee on Solent Sailing Club are gearing up for their big event on Sunday 13th May.The club are hoping for another successful day of giving families a chance to find out how much they love sailing, and how easy and inexpensive it is to get hooked.
Take the Czura family, for example. Peter and Lucy Czura came along to the club with their three boys who just took to sailing like ducks to water, showing natural skills and aptitude. One of them who had not sailed before even won Cadet of the Year.
Their parents also become very much engaged in the club too. Both did their RYA level 2 after which the whole family joined in some of the club cruises across to the IOW. Lucy became an active parent volunteer in the kids’ Gybe club, leading a keep fit /athletics session during the winter sessions.
Peter completed his Powerboat Level 2 and is going to be helping out on the water during the season providing safety boat cover.
Lucy commented “Our involvement is a reflection of the club itself being so friendly and inclusive. We had originally intended just to give the boys a chance to ‘have a go’ at sailing!”
Lee on Solent Sailing Club are hoping more visitors will become inspired on 13th May. All are welcome to their family friendly sailing club for Try a Sail sessions. They will start at 10:00am and continue throughout the day. Buoyancy aids will be supplied for the participants. All the facilities of the club will be available including snacks and the bar.
