About Us
Portsmouth Harbour Marine CIC (also known as Gosport Marine Scene) exists to stimulate and support marine business growth in Gosport, to raise the profile of Gosport as a yachting destination and service centre and to promote careers and employment in the marine sector. It is a non-profit volunteer organisation.
It does this primarily via the annual Gosport Marine Festival which is a long established free community event that has been running for over 10 years. The one-day event showcases the wealth of on water opportunities available on the Gosport peninsula, allows people of all ages and abilities to take part in these activities and learn about opportunities for longer term engagement with the water through careers
and leisure.
The festival is run in collaboration with several local companies, charities, sports clubs and businesses. It has become a much-loved annual highlight in Gosport with fantastic feedback from all parts of the community.
Our Directors
Lucy Grodie
Chair of Organising Committee
Charity professional, passionate about opportunities for young people, outdoor learning and maritime. Having been involved in supporting the organisation for many years, Lucy currently leads the delivery of Gosport Marine Festival.
Mark Bowden
Non-Executive Senior Director
Brings decades of experience, many of which were at senior director level, in corporate and small marine-related businesses. A well-known and respected figure in the British and international marine sector, having held board positions with industry associations.
Chris Groves
Community and Careers
Chris has been a local resident in Gosport for 50 years. He has Royal Navy and local industry experience, has held multiple governance roles and is passionate about young people succeeding in careers.
Mark Goulding
Supporters & VIP Engagement
A former canoe lifeguard at Gosport Lifeboat (GAFIRS) and member of 5th Gosport Sea Scouts. Mark is passionate about Gosport and it’s opportunities for maritime business and careers. He bring his extensive business leadership experience to the team.
Nick Van de Weyer
Marketing and Promotion
With decades of experience in Marketing and Events, after leading the delivery of Gosport Marine Festival in 2023 and 2024 he now focuses on the marketing and promotion of the organisation. A dad to two local school age children he is passionate about ensuring our impact continues on for future generations.
